Early on the morning of June 24, the Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Mondli Gungubele, together with the City’s senior officials spread across all informal settlements around the City to keep them clean.

The initiative was part of the seventh installment of the Clean Neighbourhood Fridays campaign, which saw the City’s officials and community key stakeholders joining hands and dedicating two hours of their time to rid the different areas off the heaps of dirt and rubbish  blemishing their surroundings.

The Mayor was cleaning at Kamkhancwa informal settlement in Brakpan, where multitudes of community members joined in and rolled their sleeves to partake on the programme.

“I’m glad to see you all coming out to keep your neighbourhood clean, I urge u not to wait for us to come back again, you must work together as a community to keep this area clean and make it a potential attraction site for tourists,” commented Gungubele.
