Gavin Clunnie was inaugurated as the new IMESA president at last night’s 80th IMESA Conference opening function.
Clunnie, who will serve as the head of the organisation for two years, takes over from Duncan Daries. He moves from his position as Operations Director: Marketing & Communication to take the presidency.
Addressing IMESA members for the last time as president, Daries said that IMESA has a great future because of the legacy of past presidents and the executive committee. “It has been an honour serving you in the capacity as president,” Daries told IMESA members.
Clunnie was inaugurated stating, “I am very honoured to be standing here this evening receiving what I consider to be the highest accolade one can receive from this prestigious institution…. With honour and humility I accept this role as the new IMESA president for the
next two years.”
Clunnie thanked his colleagues for making this possible and for having faith in and supporting him. He also thanked his wife, Rhu for her support and his branch which he hopes to make proud while they continue to work together for a common vision.
Duncan wished Clunnie luck in his new position as president and pledged his support as he continues to serve IMESA as deputy president.
