The City of Cape Town’s Transport and Urban Development Authority (TDA) is set to start with road works on Klipfontein Road (M18), between Milner Road and Sawkins Road in Rondebosch.
According to the TDA works are scheduled to take place on weekends starting from 14 April 2018. The project which involves resurfacing sections of the road will affect residents and road users in Heideveld, Surrey Estate, Athlone, Sybrand Park, Mowbray and surrounding areas.
The City has made access arrangements for residents living in the enclosed working area between Milner and Sawkins Roads, including Robor Crescent in Mowbray. The road works are scheduled to be carried out from 07:00 on Saturday mornings until 18:00 on Sunday evenings.
Traffic on the westbound lanes, towards Liesbeek Parkway, will be detoured around the Rondebosch Common via Milner Road, Park Road, Campground Road and Sawkins Road back to Klipfontein Road.
Traffic on the eastbound lanes, towards Athlone, will be accommodated on Klipfontein Road.
The traffic detour will be in place throughout these weekends.
“Road constructions always come with a level of inconvenience and we are doing our best to minimise this inconvenience. I would like to urge residents and commuters to be patient during the construction period and exercise extra caution when driving around the area,” says Siyabulela Mamkeli, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Area Central.
