South Africa’s water and sanitation has come under the spotlight in recent months. From droughts to infrastructure challenges and sewage spills, water and sanitation is on the agenda for both the public and private sectors with everyone seeking solutions to the problems the country is facing.

While it’s no secret that there is still much to be done in the provision of adequate water and sanitation services to the people, the country has made significant progress thus far. With the help of Statistics South Africa we take a look at some of the ups and downs of water and sanitation in South Africa between 2002 and 2017.
